Meet Our Artists
Layziehound started out studying engineering. It was not for him. An intense artist that sees the world through his critical eye , he makes social commentary on politics of the day, roles we play in society and often his own role as the artist in South African culture . He questions our roles in society as well as his own as the artist in society today working in the South African context and landscape.
Severa Rech Casserino
Severa Rech Cassarino , is an artist in the fine art realm, an art teacher and an author, bead and jewellery creator . She has many talents to her name and a creative genius in all fields. Multi- talented she has been making art since a little girl. Technically very skilled and diverse in her art making Severa and iBi Art have worked together for four years. Her latest solo show in June 2018 showcased all her art work as a retrospective giving the viewer a taste of all her genres of expression.
Shui-Lyn White is a self- taught artist. She started creating visual art 15 years ago when she read “The artist Way”. She believes they challenge the basic narratives of our world, our sense of ourselves, and the ways in which we interpret what we experience. Our show takes place at the end of August 2018. Shui last exhibited with iBi Art in JHB about 10 years ago.
Some of our current artists include: Jonathan Stone, Michael Newton, Layziehound, Nick Walsh, Sam Smirrin, Rodger Hart, Bongi Bengu, Roger Trebilcock, Gordon Froud and Catherine Abraham.
Our art events are marketing opportunities for artists to promote their art work and sell their art through iBi Art. We arrange pop up exhibitions with three nights drinks with wine and cheese ( Wed to Friday ) and a Saturday morning in order to invite guests to come through and see the art, meet the artist and purchase. This allows great feedback for the artist and in the lovely Alliance, Gerald Sekoto Gallery we have the opportunity of networking and showing a variety of artist.
